Speaker Cables: Single or Bi-wire?
Bi-Wire or Single-Wire? I get asked this question frequently. It’s 2019, and many speaker manufacturers now design mainly with single-wire binding posts. For the requests that I get for bi-wiring, here is what I advise to customers.
I begin with two questions...what speakers do you have? and what is their minimum impedance? If minimum impedance is greater than 3 ohms, then bi-wire is an unnecessary cost - adding another 80% to the cost of our single-wire cables.
Instead of bi-wire speaker cables, I recommend single wire along with a set of our jumpers. (Made of the same wire as the speaker cables). Jumpers are a minor upgrade in cost above single-wire - $100 to $600, depending on the WyWires formula.
I also recommend connecting the speaker cables to the upper set of binding posts.
But, If a customer insists on bi-wire - we make those too.
Wishing you More Music,Alex
P.S. Bananas or Spades? Either work just fine.
